Not to be picky but... this isn't Quakers (aka the Religious Society of Friends), it's the Amish. Some of my best mates are quakers and quakers don't shun a modern lifestyle at all. There are several large software engineering firms in the USA run entirely by quakers. Their most famous businesses though are probably chocolate companies. For centuries they held a virtual monopoly of chocolate making in the English speaking world - Fry, Cadbury and Rowntree are probably the best known and I'm pretty sure that they didn't forge their own chocolate making factory with their bare hands. |
