Neil, a couple of thoughts:

I have been lurking on this topic for some time, not to cause trouble, but because it is an area which interests me, and I have been wanting to learn more about the differing opinions which surround the issue of bolting. I think that by saying "no lurkers!" you exclude people such as myself who wish to keep up to date with the issues, and who may one day have something to contribute to the cause.

Your response to this might be that if I wish to contribute, then all I need do is apply to join the bolting forum. The other issue around this, however, is that I have been a member of other forums that went private, and in my experience, it seems that such activity generates more interest than if the forum remained open. There is often the problem of 'spies' joining (as ridiculous as it sounds), and passing information between opposing camps. If people want to join a private forum, they seem to find a way.

I don't know what the solution is to all of this, but it will be interesting to see how things evolve. Good luck :-)
