Due to the inclement weather I spent this afternoon sitting in my shed, drinking a couple of home brews, and reading the 2007 Bluies guide and dreaming of big, chossy, classic routes. When I read the Katoomba Cliffs section for Malaita Point, I realised that all the way through the guide it was spelt 'Malatia Point'. Abomination!!!! My wife is half Malaitan (Solomon Islands), and it is called Malaita Point after an old Malaitan man who decided to make the place his home, highly likely at the end of the indentured labor period between 1880-1920 when many Malaitans came to Australia to help establish farming in Queensland. Who is the keeper of the Bluies guide, so that I can help them right this wrong before a whole pile of war canoes full of Malaitans turn up in Sydney Harbour and demand compensation for the incorrect spelling????
