Youth World medals: Russia 4 gold, Austria 3, Japan 2, Czechia 1, Venezuela 1 and USA 1
310 boys and girls, representing 36 countries from all around the world, are competing in this event.
The 16th World Youth Championship is history.
In Lead, Austria is on top with three gold medals and two silver, followed by Japan, two gold, and Czechia one gold and one bronze. Germany got two silver, Korea and Switzerland one each, while France got two bronze, then Spain, USA and Italy with one bronze.
In Speed Russia dominate again and got four gold medals, Venezuela and USA got one.

Opening and first days
"I declare the XVI Youth World Championship open!"
With these words IFSC President Marco Scolaris concluded the great Opening Ceremony, perfectly organised by the Sport Climbing Federation of Australia, represented by its President, Graham Hyland. Michelle Schofield was representing Graham West, New South Wales Sport and recreation Minister.
In the first two days, 310 competitors from 36 countries are competing on two routes in the huge Sydney Indoor Climbing Gym. The best 26 qualify for the semifinals, to be held on Saturday, when also speed will start. .
The Youth World Championship is one of the major and most exciting IFSC competition and has a long tradition, that began in 1992 in Basel (SUI).
