people often use a skyhook to take some weight when bolting on lead. So climb until you find a stance or hook placement (usually a long way), take some weight with the hook & start drilling. I couldn't imagine hand drilling on lead being much fun, but the alternatives are to climb with a battery drill or haul the drill up using a tag line. either way you do it its not much fun.
