I always thought it meant someone who climbs mainly in the lower grades, usually trad. And bumblies are usually found carrying hexes, hence the term "bumbly bells". Nothing to be ashamed of. I often refer to myself a bumbly, but then again I don't own hexes, so not sure if I qualify...?
