Hi Tracey,
My two bob's worth. All bush camps need is something to stop cars driving all over them, destroying the vegetation, so people pitch their tents further in, then the drive their cars further in and the camp sites just sprawl.
The best bush camp site is one nobody else knows about, especially the one at %#@^$(^$&.
This might be a bit outside your scope, but the best way for Parks to manage bush camp sites is to abolish the fees in the formal sites. I'm convinced that the vast majority of people who use bush camps (with the exception of Kieran) do so because they feel ripped off by the fees in the formal camp sites. These fees are totally out of proportion to the level of service provided. When I was a lad, we always camped at places like upper Rosea, Troopers Creek, & Strachan's Hut (and the old Stapylton camp that was closed due to sprawl). Camping was free, and there was even a rubbish collection. I reckon the money that Parks would loose from abolishing the camp fees would probably pay for itself in savings on management cost (especially considering that most people don't pay anyway).
