The Darrans guide book is the best guide book NZ has ever seen. If it's outdated it's only because it has facilitated the access to the Darrans' limitless potential..
If you want an explanation of every route, pitch for pitch, sleep with the Arapiles and or the Grampians guide.
If it a true alpine experience your after, strap your crampons to your tennys, carry an axe and climb around or on a mountain in the Darrans.
Or hell, just go clip bolts in the Cleddau Valley,
Or just stay at home and climb at your own crag, it's probably better than the Darrans anyways,
Especially if your home crag is Werribee gorge!
