Might be a bit far south, and more of a trekking peak, but perhaps consider Volcan Lanin (3776m) as a good peak for acclimatisation. You can climb it in a 2-day round trip, with crampons and a walking axe, and you don't need ropes, though it is a tad exposed in some areas. It's right on the border, accessed from the Argentine side, on the road between Pucon and San Junin de Los Andes. Probably a good idea to do something like this before you go above 5000m, IMHO.
