When someone is a bit noisy, perhaps a bit arrogant, and stands out from the crowd and tries to make a name for themselves by really doing something for climbing, they seem to lay themselves open to bagging from the nobodies.

Chris Baxter, Kim Carrigan, David Brereton, Glenn Tempest, Jo Goding.....

Most of these people have come and gone, or only just arrived. Chris came first and never left.

While I must confess to enjoying a little "Melon Bating" in the past, and have done enough climbing with Bangla to know all the stories, I have the greatest respect for Chris. History will show him to be THE Victorian climber of the 20th century.

I am told that the Imortal Inscription was by Fred Langenhorst. Have also heard that Chris showed a slide of it at a BMC confernece years ago.
