My understanding of volunteers is that there is no payment. Paid staff do all the regular routsetting at VR. Other people not on the books who set for last years boulder competitions were rewarded very generously with climbing passes and memberships. These people received "gifts" worth MUCH more than they would have been paid in cash. Since Ross took over routesetting (which is the original job he took at VR and remains in charge of) no volunteers have set. A lot of people are making up statistics and stories, facts are not hard to get, you only have to ask! |
