Apline 3 pitches? OK, we did do three on the first ascent, but that was because Kim belayed about 30' from the bottom - he had decided it was going to be easy and that he'd give me a little glory, and I belayed a bit below the top because there was a good spot and I wasn't sure how much rope was left. Two is plenty.
