Have finished a shift at work and just logged on, while I was there I kept thinking about the new prices and then thought of what it is like to be a climber and a worker in the industry.
As a climber I want to climb /train and socialise, but dont see that I should have to pay to do this, or if I pay then why should I pay more than $10 bucks to do so.- I am tight with my money.

The problem is that we have been lucky to have a gym that has had low entry prices for around 7 yrs and that has spoilt us - ,all gyms be it here or anywhere else have incentives if you buy up front, like 10 visit cards 3,6 and 12 month deals, I know that to have the cash on hand is not always possible but by buying up front you do save the dollars and mark has done some sums and shows that for $8 you can climb and even less if you go more times a week.

I sort of feel for the gyms, remember there was one in Thomas town, Morrabbin, Tralralgon, Collingwood, Geelong, the first one closed and now there is another. Interstate -there have been heaps that have closed. I know where I work the cost of everything has gone up at least 40% over the past 12 months and to really keep going, the prices should go up, they dont want to put the prices up, so sometimes things dont happen when they should and now there are new activity standards introduced with more regulations, no seemless mats in bouldering areas, no climber to tighten a spinner, -must have spotters. We get bullitens once a week with new issues, -- you must do this, dont let the punter do that and on it goes, but hey, I need to pay the rent and fix the car so I do what I have to do
Everything has gone up petrol, beer, smokes the essential things in life, so i guess V/R has just got in line and upped the prices and now its a shock to the system.

I visit VR regulary, and it hurts to pay, as I dont pay where I work, but I need variety and by climbing else where I am not pestered by the regulars that want to chat when I want to train, draw backs of this industry.

Give em a chance to do what they have said they are going to do, all gyms say they are doing something and it takes for ever, dont give us workers a hard time, we are just doing our job and need the cash!!!!!!!!!
