I have to be a bit careful here as I work within the sector, but I thought that the price rise would happen.
I agree with lots of you,a price rise and what do we get, well I know what you dont see.
PL is crippling all adventure based activities, if you have the right insurance that is. The more accidents you have the higher the cost.
Wages the base rate is $17.00 per hour and more for route setters if thats all they do. Upkeep well thats another thing. Do you remember that the Mill had very little toilet paper and the dryers in the boys toilets didnt work, maintainece cost dollars.
The Mill was doomed from when the word went out it was closing, I know that alot of those so called Tuesday climbers didnt pay so the place was packed and there were no dollars coming in the door and this was all happening before it was taken over.
Hey when you have groups in to cover the overheads there are complaints that the scouts are in and it is noisy and there is no where to climb and on and on it goes. Us staff that stand at reception and cop the abuse cannot do a thing, we cop it always, no new routes, routes can only be done when it is quite and then mamagement dosnt have route setting allowance in the budget as there are not enough people coming in so again it is one big circle. I would hate to be a gym owner, it is bad enough working in one, but I get free climbing and so does my partner.
BUT leave off guys, you dont have to climb in a a gym, remember only 11yrs ago there wernt any,
