I climbed on barrier in january and it would have been very awkward without crampons and an ice axe.
We did however go over barrier and through the barrier saddle to get to the rock bivi. but even the approach to the base of the Labaryth area would have been very difficult. the snow slopes are steeper than they look.
I wouldnt bother with crampons for moirs but would definetally for barrier and sabre. IMHO.
