whats a trad climbing shoe?????

climbing up, jam the crack, balance,----reach for cam......careful now...dont drop it...nice placement....now the draw...now clip rope ...what the...no way I'm not wearing my trad shoes.....down climb......replace shoes.....

I know you mean those stiff board tpe shoes. they look a wee bit clunky next to the lastest expensive bananna shoes...no where near as sexy looking..(foot fetish)..but it really depends on what the major feature of the rock your climbing doesnt it?

Labelling shoes as being either for trad/sport/bouldering/sparying/approach/2-pitch/offwidth/sloper is a marketers dream.....dont fall for it. Shoes dont make THAT much of a difference..."oh dudde, my grade increased by 2 when I tried slipper xxxx" tossers I tell ya.

look at any early photo's or even some 1990's and you'll see peopple climbing all sorts of rock on what could only now be described as gumboots.
I've seen photos of people sport climbing Serpentine at Taipan in Aces....FREAKS I tells ya.

Good luck with the Chillies...how abouts a review of your impressions of them when you take themfor a climb??
