You call other people emotional cripples and many other insults, yet its clear you have no understanding of the simple emotional attachment that is possible between a human and a pet. Whether a cat, dog, rabbit, whatever, these relationships can provide a lot of comfort and love to both parties. Yes, some people are irresponsible owners, others may be unhygienic. The problem is with the people, not the animals. And yes, castration is part of responsible ownership.

Your numbers are very dubious, another statistic easily found (Medical Journal of Aust) gave 10,339 presentations to hospital in victoria, over 7 years... Only a few orders of magnitude difference, easy mistake to make...

Ban irresponsible idiots before you ban dogs. As far as humans with problems, go take a look in a mirror.
