I really don't think the connection between rock climbing and 4wds is for the benefit of rock climbers who might want one. Its more for those who are living in the burbs, stuck in peak hour traffic every day, working for the man and thinking nature is a Jamie Durie patio garden.
The desire for adventure, fun, freedom, excitement and control is satisfied firstly by having enough for the 4wd and then by actually owning one. Why drive to work in a Holden Dunnydoor when you can be all that and more in a luxury 4wd?
Rock climbing is being used to create an image of the pinnacle of success in the modern-day con. |
