McEwings (www.mcewings.co.nz?) and Bivouac (no website) are both on the main mall in central christchurch. These seemed to me to be the best equiped ones. Mtn Designs, High Country, Kathmandu and Mainland are four camping stores within 2 blocks of the mall area, but I don't recall these stocking any climbing gear. There could be others that are better, but these are all I found last trip.
