mt buffalo was awesome- a really beautiful place. The hot shower at the end of the day was such a luxury!

As i recall, Porepunkah is about 28km away from lake catani ( up a winding rd to the plateau)- for most it is about a 20-30min drive.
It is a place to have a car- although if you were energetic, you can bike to most places once on the plateau (its 9km to the horn (=end of road) from the campsite). Being on foot would make it harder for you to start the day early ( a must in the heat of buffalo) but if friends are on their way, you could play around at the gorge (2km away) or on boulders close tot he campgrd.

The lodge was still closed when we went so stock up on food or buy at inflated prices at the cafe ($10 for 2Lmilk and bread)

The initiation was really fun- we did it in 2 pitches. it stays in the shade until midday and catches the wind.
