Depends really. when i went it as very cheap for the car but expensive for the people. As the cars are subsidised by the dept of transport or something as a "main road". So it might be a combination of sending 1-2 people with the car and picking others up in tassie from the airport. for us the ammount of stuff we could take in the van made the camping very luxury compared to hiring a car where we would have been light weight for flying.
