Spent 3 months there a while (decade) ago. They do have good cycling, MTB, in singapore. The only country you can cycle around in a day, starting in the afternoon... Bike stuff seemed cheap, I recall. The keen local cyclysts are all gear freaks. Image, conscious, like lots of those countries. They don't want to be seen on last years bike. (push bike that is..)

As for climbing, I can't really comment. But seems you should not expect to go surfing if you live in Alice Springs. Save your efforts for when you get somewhere better, like thailand. If your going to enjoy 3 years, your going to have to take adantage of the local opportunities, and not try and transplant you aussie life style into s'pore.

The heat is not a problem when your exersizing, because you expect to sweat when you execize, the only difference is volume. The heat is only a problem when you're ding something or wear clothes that you don't want to get sweaty..
