Good point about the humidity. For the same reason you should avoid Queensland, North WA, the NT,
anywhere in Asia, especially Thailand and Singapore. Oh hang on, I lived there for 11 years and had
no problems running, cycling and doing plenty of (cheap) sailing. It is humid, yes however you will only
have a problem dealing with it if you try to live in an airconditioned flat and then try to go out in the
heat and humidity and do stuff. Turn off the airconditioning, sleep with the window open, embrace the
weather and get on with it. It's like saying don't go to Switzerland in winter because it's cold!!! The
reason to live in Singapore is it's clean and safe (if that's what you like) and it's an air travel hub giving
cheap quick access to everywhere in Asia for minimal money. There are good indoor and outdoor
cliombing gym facilities but, as mentioned, no great natural rock oportunities. A weekend trip to Thailand
to
go climbing is definitly a do-able option. If you eat outdoors, enjoy the warmth, try not to spend all your
time in air-conditioned bars with commercial divers and make an effort to see what's around then you'll
have a great time. |
