The list of rules in Vic Parks in the latest Argus got me thinking.
Camping in caves is not permitted
What constitutes a cave?
Does a rock overhang count as a cave?

Before establishing a new climbing area, the approval of the land manager must be obtained
I must admit I have never asked - on the "Ask a silly question get a silly answer" philsophy.
Has anybody here ever asked Parks' permission before putting up routes in a new area?
If so, what response did they get?

Questions for Tracy -
Do Parks have training and protocols to address this question?
Do you ask at the local ranger station / visitor centre or Parks head office in Melbourne?
Do they have to respond within a certain time frame?
Do they have to provide reasons if they decline permission?

Access to cliffs is only permitted on existing tracks
Is this a specific rule for climbing, seeing as you are allowed away from tracks if you are not going climbing?

Didn't see this one. Has sanity prevailed with respect to bolts???
