Linkup missions are cool.

One rainy Thursday night at the woody in Adelaide a mate and I came up with the idea to do all the routes on the watchtower faces in a day. We added them up and it came to about 2600m, then we realised that the next Saturday was the shortest Saturday of the year, and that would make it even cooler, so packed up the gear and headed out on Friday night.

Simulclimbed most things, pitched out the harder stuff, and by nightfall (after starting at sunrise) we'd done everything above 16 and a bunch of others, in all about 1200-1300m. That was when my knee (which was dodgy at the time) really started to become a problem - I hadn't been able to walk along the top or bottom since about 3pm, but it was ok to just hop/limp ito the rap ropes and go again. But then seconding while simulclimbing with only a couple of pieces between us and 40m of rope the knee almost collapsed and I realised it was all over.

And it was a bloody good excuse because I was knackered and I'm sure Vaughan could have just powered on through the night without thinking about it. (as it was the next morning I was hammered, slept late and didn't climb all day - whereas Vaughan was up at dawn for some soloing...)
