Was Berowra mentioned? It has walk on/off access and a few climbs that you could practice gear placing on. Climbs were around 10-15m from memory. (Note, I havent been there for a while, maybe it has medium density housing developed on it now...) Oh, and the quarry at Whitehaven Rd, Northmead had 2 VERY short cracks (4m bouldering) at the corner block. There once was a bolt on top of the block too if you feel worried. Not super by any means but it is in Sydney.
