Stolen Gear. Again...

11:57:22 AM
Hi there all,
I've been the unfortunate victim of a theft.
My climbing pack pack was taken from a car out the front of a private residence in Henley Beach, Adelaide on Friday (20/10/07) morning.

A brief list of gear is:
Blue/Grey/Black Macpac Pursuit 55L Size 3 pack
50m Dynamic - Blue/green/purple
approx 25m white static - white
Petzl Basic and Gri-Gri
About 8 Black Diamond hotwire quickdraws (gold)
4 or 5 BD extendable runners (dynema) A mixture of gold and grey all with hotwires.
Dyneema Cordellette and two BD Twist lock biners
BD Momentum Speed Harness/Pink BD chalk Bag
5.10 Anasazi velcros
Might be a .75 BD C4 there to.
Canon A640 10 megapixel Digital Camera in blue/black lowepro bag.

This is not an extensive list of what was taken but if you see any of this gear in Cashies or someone tries to offload it to you would you please let me know? My number: 0428830732 or call the Henley Beach Police Station on (08) 83562555 (ReportNumber: 08/H66366) it would be much appreciated!!!
Cheers All,

That's f*cked mate, sorry to hear it.

Learning from similar experiences, I now have Australian wide portable valuables cover through my home insurance. So...if anything ever gets nicked from my car etc. regardless of what it is eg. climbing gear, surfboards whatever, I get it back brand spanking new minus the $200 claim fee. I think it costs me $150 per year for $5k worth of unspecified cover and is worth it if only for the piece of mind.

who are you insured with ado?

I'm sorry to hear about your gear getting stolen, that really sucks!!! I hope the police are able to find both your gear and those who stole it.

Thanks guys,

Although I'm fairly optimistic it'll show up sooner or later (going by other peoples experience), it looks like the insurance company might come to the party first. We'll wait and see...

AAMI, through my sister's home and contents insurance policy - you can't get it stand alone. Basically, everything I own (which is not much) is covered for about $170 p/y.

Never made a claim, but I don't think it would be too much of a hassle if I did. It doesn't cover "in use", but I gave the claim agent a hypothetical about gear being stolen from a tent at the Pines, and they said that they'd cover CERTAINLY covers gear stolen from cars.

Yep, I'm with AAMI and so far its looking promising...
