thats the tammy - the one with the ridiculuous name. Ive heard that the tammy is better than the sigma, but haven't used either - so don't take my word for it.

try www.photozone.de -> they have reviews on both. Also try other websites too like photo.net and fredmiranda.com. Just beware that sharpness isn't the end all of a good lens. Keep in mind things like contrast, distortion, chromatic aberations, build, autofocus speed, etc.....

I think the Canon 17-55mm IS f2.8 and the tammy 17-50 f2.8 both are similarly sharp (ie resolve detail) but the canon has better colours and contrast. Whether or not the canon is worth $1000 more for these (+ image stabiliser) is up to you to decide.
