... whether or not the 3rd pitch is the definite continuation of the line, is neither here nor there ... thats where the route goes, that IS the route ... you HAVE to finish up the 3rd pitch.
3rd pitches have been around for quite a few years now... mmm-kay ... and where originally designed to provide a section of a route up that part of the cliff that would usually be encompassed by a 3rd pitch . Having said that, it is imperative to crystallise in ones mind , the many variables and permiatations which embrace the anticedents in relation to the over-riding concept to which we endevour to assatain as being the dominant substance being evaluated at the present, though not predudiciously alluded to as existentially significance, BUT equally at the same time, one could argue that to coincide with a regime of perpetual innovation, one must first question why it was , that the first ascentionist pondered , at the belay above the 2nd pitch, the sanctamonious necessity of even bothering to place the first runner on said 3rd pitch ..........mmm-kay ? .......
