to answer a few questions.
No he wasnt ascending the rope, he was climbing and pushing the jumars up ahead of him.No chest ascender. They looked blue or at least dark in colour. The cord looked like 6mm as used in prussiks. The rope was a fluffy dynamic, no extra wraps or stopper knot on the anchor just a straight clove hitch over the pole. The anchors themselves are bomber so relying on one wouldnt be a problem, but why not double up since the stuff is there. The rope was also just running over the cliff edge and since he was moving about below was rubbing about.
