The best stuff is Bushman (80% DEET) plus sunscreen, but surely in Thailand you can find some nubile young thing to wipe it over your semi-naked body, therefore not getting it on your hands... I also use Skoot which is great, and is based on Pyrethrin so (probably) doen't harm petrochemical based items like nylon ropes. It's in a squirt pack with about 400 "shots", so you can kill bugs on the wing (inside your mozzie net) or use it as a repellent. But when they get bad you can't beet DEET.
