I've come through to climbing via caving, where I used to do a reasonable number of vertical caves. For some reason height was never an issue inside the caves, outside it's a different story height can be an issue. Over the last few years I've worked out that I'm not scared of heights, but scared of exposure. I'm fine if I'm focused on what I'm doing, my immediate location, but if I lose focus, for example stepping between two walls (working a corner) where you're stepping across a void, then the height can be an issue. |
