There's heaps of alpine rock (most are long multi-pitch stuff) over near the German alpine resort town of Garmisch, south of Munich - wouldn't take more than 2 hrs drive). Also, on your way NE, there are some crags near Mainz (sorry, forgot the actual names, but just about any reference to climbing in Rheinland-Pfalz will mention this area near Mainz....bolted stuff, mostly single pitches). Could also send an email to the local climbing gyms, or the DAV (German Alpine Club) for info on the alpine routes. Post edit: > (sorry, forgot the actual names, ....
