Mike,
Less mountainous every year?, i tend to disagree...
Maybe you didn't make last year's screening? or drank too many beers at intermission...;-)
The lead film, running for almost 1hr (i think) was infact a climbing film... 'Sur le fil des 4000' about the 2 frenchclimbers and their attempt to climb all 82 x 4000m summits in the Alps... a really amazing climbing film!
But remember... the reason this festival was set up over in Banff is to feature the 'best of the best' of mountain films featuring inspiring "mountain stories"... so perhaps some years you get more climbing, some years more trekking, cycling, general mountain adventure, the amazing beauty of the mountains and yes sometimes it could be about birds, rocks, porters, climbing sherpas, even fly fishing...
The point i'm getting at here is ultimately these films are about people's passion, love, and respect for the mountains - letting us share the experiences & journeys of others! Just like you I'm a dedicated climber, but think this film festival is an really awesome thing, i always find it really inspiring, think it's great for climbing, the outdoors in general and the environment. I've never walked out disappointed, i just wish there were more of these type of things!
Sounds like you need to go and buy all the 'dosage' series films, fire up the dvd player, do some more chin-ups & eat more banana's. ;-)
Oh, you might remember Didier from parralleojams, the return to sender film.... oh!, that would be another climbing film featured in the Banff Film Festival last year!!
