Walking uphill along the track from Hollow Mt car park, about 100m before you strike Sandinista cliff, there is a litte footpad leading off on the right to a short outcrop about a stones throw away. This I am assuming is Gun Butress, though I could well be mistaken. Now just above this little outcrop there is another area. It's hard to describe. If you walk deeper it opens into a fairly large grey wall with potential climbing, but we hang out at a small tor on the left, no higher than about 10m that had a small clearing, with low logs to sit on and about three worthwhile lines, one of which was labbelled "AP" in white paint and felt about grade 22. Exiting this area we walked along the top of Gun Butress's ridge (if that's what it was), and regained the tourist track to sandinista very quickly, like maybe 50m if that. If someone was leading sandinista and had a strong arm they could probably have picked us off with a carefully aimed nut tool, if that gives you an idea of how close by it is.
So, any idea what these lines went at? |
