Excuse my ignorance but....
I thought warming up was for muscles, tendons etc, but osteoarthritis was a bone / joint problem.
I've attributed my stuffed toe joints to abuse from too much smearing, not from failing to warm up before climbing.
As for the study referred to in the original post, 28 climbers is hardly statistical. And when I had only been climbing for 7 years, I was indestructible and immortal. After 20 years or so it's a different story.
