Have used a lightweight sail cloth (used for patching spinikers) on a tear on a down sleeping bag. It has a supper sticky backing and it is like "contact" (without the TMNT pictures) so you can cut the shape that you need. Just be sure to round the corners so the edges don't lift. Sorted.
