Just climb at Berowra in Sydney if you want to encounter snakes while climbing. Have encountered an endangered snake at Piddington on a ledge halfway up The Carthagenian in hibernation mode and taking up the bomber cam placement. HAd to place the cam beside it and climb over it. Lucky it was in siesta mode. Still have no idea how it could have got there. Looked it up on the net and this particular snake is close to extinction and unique to the Blackheath/Mt Victoria escarpment and if sighted to report to NPWS. It described the snake as having to sun itself on cliff ledges in winter to warm itself up. |
