I have found worldnomads.com.au to be the cheapest insurance by far. Way cheaper than travel agents. The limits are lower and doesn't cover all the same stuff as travel agent policies. Eg. Canada 12mths for $585 and was quoted $1500 by my travel agent. For Canada I have also looked at purchasing medical insurance when I get there. Have only done some brief research and found a few policies for overseas visitors. One policy covers any medical emergenices and also covers mountain and sea rescue including air ambulance. Its not cheap $1.60 a day for $10000 coverage up to $3.60 a day for $150000 coverage.
