All funny stuff, especially this idea of doing things for the greater good of the climbing community. Bollocks!!!

Most of the people I associate with in my "climbing community" don't even read this forum let alone post on it (the ones that have glanced at it consider it a bit of a joke). Which leads me on to something I've said numerous times before, this forum does not represent the general climbing community, it's just a bunch of mostly like minded people pissing in each others pockets, you just need to look at the venom post towards slimey when one of you has your activities questioned.

As for the tireless efforts of some individuals going to all the trouble of advancing the "sport", I don't see it that way at all. A bunch of over bolted routes on worthless pieces of rock that people have walked past for decades (I'm still amazed everytime I go to the vic range to see what someone has actually spent the time to bolt!) does not advance the "sport", if anything it detracts from it. The outside world is not a gym extension, exploration is one thing but ADD and a powerdrill is not a good combination.

As for the route on Taipan, I haven't seen it (maybe get out there in the next day or 2) but generally the climbs there are sporty. Meaning you can get some distance above your gear in pumpy territory (bolts or natural), is this a gym extension type of route where the bolts have been placed for dogging purposes and you generally don't get one below your knees before the next is clipped?
