With shoes & harnesses, what fits and suits one person isn't necessarily suit another. Go into several stores and try everything on until you find something comfortable. Being a beginner, you only need a basic style shoe, this essentially means a lace up shoe. Going back 10 years ago the aim was to have you toes crunched in the end of he shoe (shoes 2 sizes to small), unless your an advanced climber, it's irrelevent practice. The aim now, particularly at your level is to have your toes at the end of the shoe and slightly bent, they should feel comfortable. Listen to what everyone says, ask question, but make up your own mind about what sounds right.
