Hmm I backed off Iron Void at Araps over Easter. Spent about 20min trying to fiddle in some crap wires about 8m off the deck. Spent a couple of minutes just thinking about what I should do. Should I go for it.... Ive done that plenty in the past and made it, sometimes only just. Could I jump into the pine try... NO. And how hard was the ground...VERY HARD. In the end I downclimbed then jumped off near the ground. I had a very strong feeling on this climb not to try and push through. I guess I must be getting older and wiser.

Talking with a friend later on he recalled a conversation with a couple of young (less than 25) climbers who said that they just pushed through when reaching dangerous parts of climbs (and that everyone should). This attitude might get you up some awesome climbs and gain the respect of other climbers but for how long.............

Anyway I'm off to do some death slabs at Booromba this weekend.
