Most of my non-climbing friends have no idea that I do, although I've done a few charity days where people pay to climb or abseil and the money goes to charity, usually raise $500 to $700 Brisbane Basket Brigade

Downside:
The number of guys that wanted to use me/my gear without thought to inconvenience!
Those that had abseilled previously and spent the day telling me of their previous conquests!

Upside:
I met my girlfriend there!
Quite a few have gone on to climb, by themselves!
Got educated that climbers are generally safety concious and gained an appreciation that climbers are relatively "low impact" on the great outdoors!

BTW Since my move to Victoria they've lost this revenue earner, any takers in the sunshine state to take over please contact me!
