You hear so many horror stories about gear pulling and often unexpectedly (no body tells the billion stories about it holding). After all the stories and seeing someone deck when all their gear pulled I had minimal faith in the system when I started leading trad a couple of months ago. I still find it hard to have faith in even the most bomber placements. I wig out on climbs well within my ability cos I'm never sure that I'm not going to deck if I fall :( After climbing with someone that happily rests on trad gear I got used to the idea and had my first rest on my own gear last weekend- I think it did my head the world of good :) Perhaps I should come watch you take some whippers Neil :)
