ask the rangers at Wilsons Prom.

I did this the other weekend while down there. Thier representitives told me in the first instance that all applications for climbing permits where to go through the head ranger.
My second approach confirmed this and it was explained that this was purely to monitor climbing activity within the park. I was also told Tounge Point/Lighthouse area etc. where closed due to access issues ie. top access and its (Parks) liability re same. Also access to climbers on all other sea cliffs was prohibited. More importantly Little Oberon Slabs, Mt Wilson etc. Those areas affected by the recent wildfire. Are closed. Apparently there is a lot of exfoliation of the granite following the fires, and this presents some danger to climbers (apparently). Also as flora regenerates following the fires the environment here will be pretty fragile so parks don't want climbers tramping over everything. I would expect this would be for some time.
At your suggestion Neil I got hold of a copy of the Easter District Guide. It's black, yellow and a little the worse for wear. I found it in the backpack with my rack. Some of the routes describe trees and bushes for pro. Naturally these (in those effected areas) are now toast, so anyone planning a trip down there in the future should bear this in mind.
While there I had the obligetry boulder about the place and walked up to Mt Bishop to check out Whale Rock. The view from the bottom Catchalot is fairly intimidating. I would imagine a more intimidating lead. Thank god the familys camping gear filled the car before I tried to squeeze in rope and rack.
