Successful climbing (trad) is all about teamwork and communication is vital to a safe outcome, especially where it relates to pro coming out or holds/placements that the second sees but the leader has missed.
When I'm leading I like to know when pro comes out below. Sure, I may not be able to go down fix it but at least I know its not there and can make sure the next placement is sooner rather than later and hopefully bomber. One of the ingredients of a successful team is being able to rely on your partner to tell it like it is, straight up, good or bad.
There is no room in this game for guesswork and silence where safety is concerned.
