I would always tell the leader if a critical piece of gear has fallen out and I would like my belayer to do the same. I think it is better for the leader to make a conscious decision to go on.
I don't urge the leader into dangerous territory unless I know them well enough to know that they'll make their own decision anyway. A bit of encouragement is great but I keep the insults and ribbing to mates only.
As to suggestions about how to do the climb...I appreciate the belayer letting me know if I've missed an obvious hold or gear placement but not everyone does. |
