Keep persisting, it does get easier as time passes. We climbed with at least three and stuck to single pitch stuff so an adult was there to supervise as much a possible. We also went to the gyms abit when they were new like yours. Had them in one of those rockers and had them next to us while belaying. Of course quiet times and a good owner helps.
Now the little buggers want to lead.
