Firstly Ditto Man!!!!!! There is a whole lotta us out there that like nothing better than racking up and going up.For me personally it is an opportunity to get away from the world and get in tune with the cosmic vibe,get recentered on whats important basically there's nothing better when your climbing than sitting on a little belay ledge at araps strapped in watching the far horizon ,watching whats going on far away down below or what crawls outa the crack next to you. Its the challenge of setting a goal and achieving it ,developing other skills to live with, other than how to deal with mortgages etc. The only training I do is reg lead climbing in the gym and I climb about 4 grades lower out doors, theres energy that goes into hanging on and placing gear that you don't use in the gym. I'm not gunna b Rheinhold Messner so my day /weekend out on the rock is pleasurable i climb within my ability I don't wanna spend the weekend shitting my pants.Determining your ability is a matter of choosing climbs carefully and perhaps recording what you've done and how you found it to aid you decision making ,I even make my own notes next to the description in the guide with regard to helpfull things I did for future reference.Thanks for listening to my personal rant.But the bottom line is there's nothing like " placing your own gear and betting your life on it!!!!!!!"
