So, just to stir the shit a little, then.... I suppose you need to tick a route to claim the first ascent? So if Sir Edmund Hillary happened to pull on a draw back in '53, he didn't get the tick??? Or the first ascent??? Or maybe this is when we start splitting hairs, into first ascent and first clean ascent? I suppose my point is that the tick, onsight, flash, redpoint, pinkpoint, dog, top-rope, climb-to-the-crux-and-down-again-to-keep-the-onsight system is bordering on rediculous. As long as you're having fun, you're on the right track. If you live to tell the tale, call it whatever, just tell the story straight.
